The GRX55B features Ibanez Infinity pickups in an HSH pickup configuration and a six-screw synchronized tremolo bridge.
In mid-2017 a new fretboard material, treated New Zealand pine, replaced rosewood. For 2018 GRX55B models sold in Asia got the new T106 tremolo.
The GRX40 is a similar model with a single coil pickup in the neck position. The GRX55 was a short-lived model from late 2014 which is similar to the GRX55B except that it has chrome hardware.
